Pass the Salt. And the Pepper. And While You’re At It, The Ketchup Too

March 12, 2016 | Local Project. LIC, Queens, NY.

Welcome to our table, an elsewhere where nothing is what it seems. Everything could really be something else: there are myriad ways to enjoy the delicate aromas and flavors of these instantaneous perceptual ambiguities. Don’t feast upon them too fast–this could cause self-induced indigestion–though swallowing them whole with unhinged jaws may be needed to saturate the indulgent tyrants inhabiting our gorge with stomach-acid, eroding their every concept of necessity/propriety. During this dinner service, the body craves peptide-insulation against benevolent ignorance and against the economic ulceration of art making/consumption/participation. This is a full menu of live works with recipes involving scores, actions, movement, and substances, situating performative, social and ritual practices.

Participating ArtistsWaqia Abdul-Kareem, Jenna Kline,  Beatriz Albuquerque, Quinn Dukes, Geraldo Mercado, Alejandro Chellet

Desire & Disaster | December 12-19, 2015 | Local Project

Winter sore is here! Get closer and pass on your semi-autonomous infected breath to one another. The body is out of sync but  somewhere between construing and confusing the injustices that causes this constant disaster, somehow our built-in-inexhaustible desires to live in the world socially will get us away from the malady.

Desire & Disaster is an attempt to think of the organization and disorganization of our individual desire and disaster within the collective life that is imposed on us. To look at these internal network of (good and bad) forms and (healthful and harmful) substances that we persistently generate due to our acute dependency to communicate and feel with each other as we value our selves as human being (and that is just one category of endless categories and (sub)divisions such as race, sex, type, etc ..that we, the dominant species, have produced, which is often times backfiring at us).

Desire & Disaster is a performance art series consist of action-task-body-movement and soundscape/situation-based performance practice. Artists and audience will share two Saturday evenings of intimately experiencing the immediate material, spatial, historical and ritual labor of art-making-participating.

Participating Artists: Nia Nottage, Shawn Escarciga, Ivy Castellanos, Heeran Lee, Edgar Javier Ulloa Lujan, Julia Santoli, Brian Mc Corkle, Tropical Resources, Jeremy Toussaint Baptiste

Images of Interpretation | Court Square Studios, LIC , Queens, NY, May 15 – 16 2015
A hat, a straw, a spin, a stare, a ramble..A series of immediate and temporal existences, negotiated and presented from within our most infinite and intimate knowing-sharings. The questions “What is it? What happened? Why and How does it happen?” dilute and cross-contaminate/pollinate our sense of presence, or lack of. Considering these questions during the digestion of artwork builds alternate interpretations and modify our realities of the art-workings themselves. Conceptual labor is shared between a group of performance artists, bonding audience members together in space-time.
Participating Artists:  Shizu Homma, René Kladzyk, Butch & Ariane,  Angela Freiberger, Jessica Kaire, Lesig Aradne , Kevin Marin & H.h. Coatl, Zavé Martohardjono, Nooshin Rostami, Angeli.
